Life at the top is lonely. That is, until a hot Italian mechanic enters Duncan’s life. The attraction begins as Duncan watches Luca working on his vintage Rolls Royce. Luca looked Duncan in the eye. “I think I might go for it. With money like that I can double my savings. It’s been a dream of mine to buy an apartment. Set myself up.”


“I can buy you an apartment. Or at least give you the deposit. All you have to do is ask.”


“I want to do it on my own, though. Then I know it’s mine and that I worked hard to get it.”


“Why now? If owning your own apartment has been a dream, why is this the first I’m hearing about it? And why didn’t you leap at the offer when I first told you about it if money was the deciding factor.”


Luca looked at him as if he didn’t know whether he was being attacked or supported.


“I only got five hundred dollars from Out and About. I didn’t know she was going to offer me so much. I mean, that’s two and a half thousand bucks a day. More, if it only takes three days.”


“Yeah, but they’ll be pretty long days. Up early and into bed late.”
