“I got out of there as fast as I could without making a scene,” Hoodie said.
Trigger said, “Nice work. I knew this gig would work out.”
Fargo watched in horror as Trigger passed the cellphone back to Hoodie. Then Trigger reached into his back pocket, pulled out a wad of bills, and handed them over to the kid. “You made this easy for me.”
Hoodie took the money and counted it.
Trigger exclaimed, “What, you don’t trust me?”
Hoodie was just about to respond when Fargo’s cellphone chimed three times in a row, informing Fargo that Chip was calling, probably wanting to ask him where he was at, what was going on, and when did he plan on returning to Chip’s side.
And then all hell broke loose.
