“It’s going to be close quarters until the flood threat has passed. Be kind to one another and don’t hog the bathrooms or the hot water. Deal?”

Again, the group nodded.

“Excellent. I’ll fix something for dinner, then I’m hitting the sack.”

If he thought he’d have peace and quiet for the rest of the evening, he was so wrong. A large pot of stew and a shower later, he flopped down on his bed, and pulled up the covers after digging a pair of sweat bottoms out of his drawer and putting them on. Bone weary, he immediately began to nod off.

A large roll of thunder echoed through the land.

Cain hit Mitch’s bed at full speed, nearly plowing into Mitch as he put on the brakes.

Mitch cracked an eye open to find the little fennec fox had followed, was standing on his hind legs, his forelegs not quite reaching the top of the mattress. The little guy whined. Mitch sighed. “Cain, help your friend up, then you two can get under the covers.”
