I knelt beside the bed, and we kissed. A heavenly sweetness was in that first kiss. He began to undo my shirt, and I started to undress. Then we were lying, both naked under the silken bedclothes, behind the curtain in that warm and scented room.

In the common parlance, we made love—which is what it was, rather than merely sex. It was not the physical consummation of physical lust, but a joining of two souls through their bodily extensions. We lay together afterwards, I looking at him in blissful happiness. He fell asleep as I gently caressed his face. Then I fell asleep.
