Because it wasn’t enough for Ida to ruin the kids’ Christmas. No, she had to ruin Jordan’s too.

Jordan was dressed casually, because apparently his family didn’t dress up for Christmas. Well, that was fine, he’d always looked good in jeans anyway. He hadn’t been sleeping well lately, Sam could see that in the dark circles under his eyes, but he even looked good with his best raccoon makeup on. Honestly, what was with the guy?

And what was with Sam, for thinking about him that way at a time like this? He never thought about guys he’d split from, especially when they’d been the ones to walk away.

He made himself focus on the kids, who were the ones having the real problem here. After all, they needed the most help. He played with them, read to them, and even sang songs to them. They deserved so much better than what they had right now.
