Chapter 14

“Hey!” Felix struggled, he needed his phone, but Kirk wrapped his arms around him and held him to his chest.

“Felix, hon, breathe for me.”

“There’s no time! We have to get you to the hospital.”

Large, warm hands rubbed his back. “What makes you think I need to go to the hospital? I’m fine, was looking forward to finally sitting with you and eat. I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time.”

He clearly wasn’t in his right mind. Confusion was a sign of concussion, was it not? “Your pupils changed shape, only serious head injury and things wonky in the brain causes that.” Felix blew out a breath, some of his muscles unclenching as Kirk kept on rubbing him. “It’s dangerous, Kirk. We need to have it checked.”

Kirk groaned, not as if he were in pain, more like he was frustrated over something. “I’m fine. Look at my eyes, they’re perfectly fine.” Felix did but the room was dim, and it was hard to be certain. But from what he could see, they looked normal.
