He was wrong.

Beau released him, sat back in the passenger seat, and primly buckled his seatbelt. “Well, why didn’t you say so before?”

Vin gaped at him, emotions still raw and reeling. He opened his mouth to say something, closed it, then opened it again.

A glorious smile tugged at the corners of Beau’s mouth. He pushed the button to retract the roof. “Oh, shut up and drive.”

On the list of things that sucked, waking up hungry in the middle of the night probably didn’t even make the top ten. Beau crossed his arms under his head, stared up at the ceiling, and tried to convince himself that was the truth.

The problem with truth was that it wasn’t very comforting when one was hungry, awake, and bored. Particularly when one was a guest in someone else’s house. Especially after such a spectacular disaster. As far as Beau was concerned, it was a sheer wonder that Vin’s grandparents hadn’t bundled him back on a plane that very afternoon.
