The woman struck a sensual pose, mimed holding a bottle. “‘Isn’t it time for a real beer?’”

Vin smacked himself in the forehead. “You’re in those Improved Domestic Beer commercials?”

“Among other things, but I.D.B. is the one most people have seen. Hi, I’m Kate Belz. Beau’s cousin on his mother’s side. My husband, Mark.”

“My boyfriend, Vin,” Beau supplied. “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at the reception?”

“Why don’t we go grab some dinner?” Mark said. “Our treat.”

Vin glanced at Beau, who shrugged.

“Really, it’s best. We can talk, and you’ll be more apt to keep your emotions in check if we’re in public. I have news for you, and it’s not all bad,” Kate said.

Vin put one hand on Kate’s forearm. “He’s having a bad time of it. Don’t push.”

“I’m here because I love my cousin and that hasn’t changed any,” Kate said.

“I’m starved,” Beau announced. He rested his elbow on top of his cousin’s head. “Let’s eat.”
