Beau hummed thoughtfully. “Just a little farther.”

Vin wobbled uncertainly. He knew he had to be on a dock, or pier, and he wasn’t entirely comfortable not knowing where the edge was. Beau, well, surely Beau wouldn’t let him fall in the water. Dumb blond jokes were not funny. (Well, sometimes they were funny. Beau made such an adorable face when a dumb blond comment was directed at him.) Puns were funny. Light bulb jokes were funny. Gluing Beau’s toothbrush to the sink was decidedlynot funny. Vin blamed it on a childhood without access to Monty Python.
