His mother cocked her head. “What’s there to forgive him for?” Jojo studied his mother’s eyes. She really had no idea why Jojo said this.

His mother then grabbed the French press and walked through the doors. He followed her to the seat next to her and didn’t say anything for a moment, shocked at his mother’s sadness about grandchildren. His father hadn’t said anything when Jojo walked back in.

“How’s Jizelle doing?” Mateo asked as he accepted another pour of coffee from Margarita.

Neither his father nor mother said anything, so Jojo answered. “She’s fine. I think she’s back to stay.”

“Has she finished her studies?” Mateo asked.

“I believe so. I think whatever she has to finish up doesn’t require her to be in London anymore.”

“So, what are her plans then, since she’s back?” Mateo passed the sweetener to Margarita
