Chapter 13

“What are we to do today?” Hanson asked, careful to keep any trace of triumph or even too much enthusiasm out of his voice.

Holzy scratched his head. “I hate to admit it, but I’ve almost run out of chores. You boys work very well and get so much done. Do you have any suggestions?”

Hanson saw Graber start to open his mouth. He glared at his friend and shook his head. ::No, wait.::He’d never tried to use mind speech before. It happened almost before he planned it. He didn’t want Graber to give them away too soon. ::Pretend nothing’s changed.::

Graber shot him a startled glance, although he obeyed.

“You’ve never suggested we clean the house,” Hanson said, carefully. “Not saying it’s a mess, but you must admit things are rather untidy. I know, I tend to be that way, too. Living alone, you can grow careless. We could straighten it all up, sweep out and get your magical materials back into your workshop. I saw empty shelves and room to put a lot of things away.”
