Drew bumped his shoulder against mine. “You all right, man?”

“Of course. Sorry. Lost in thought.” I shook my head to get rid of the last lingering worry. “What were you saying?”

“We asked if we are losing you,” Jackson said.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, can we expect you to pack your things, sell the boat, and move to Albany?”

I reared back as though Jackson had slapped me. “No! Why would you ask that?”

“Well…” Liam ran his fingers through his hair and avoided making eye contact with me. “We see how you look at your men. You’re serious about them.”

I nodded.

“I get it,” Liam hurried to add, still refusing to glance at me. “I wouldn’t want to live apart from Austin.”

I turned to Drew, who clasped my shoulder and gave it a squeeze. “I tried to tell them you’d never leave here. But they need to hear it from you.”

His words made me relax a little. At least one of them knew me. But when I looked closer at the others, I saw it. Their anxiousness was on vivid display.
