Chapter 72

“Well, Dean, you’ve got yourself a whore.” Jay shivered at the unforgiving truth. The real question was what Dean intended to do with him. If anything. Best thing would be to bow out for sanity sake—Dean’s included. Jay wasn’t sure how the dynamic balanced between them. Both men gave the other what he wanted; both men paid a price. Would Dean agree to be lovers in secret? Would Jay go along with it if he did? Did he possess the strength to refuse? Too often truth found its way to the surface. Not everything in life was about what a person wanted. What about self-respect?

The phone blared, making Jay jump, adrenaline feeding desire, guilt, remorse, and too many other emotions. Jay snagged the phone, desperate to silence it.

“Jay, mate?”

He didn’t recognise the voice, but it didn’t sound like a cold-caller. “Yes?”

“It’s Mark, at the garage. Your car’s all done.”
