“You categorise. You classify. There are people you’re happy to share with and those you’re not.”

“I don’t recall having done much sharing.”

“Because you’ve not had many people you want to share with.”

Jay’s face took on a quiet, patient, and frankly slightly patronising expression. Dean fought to ignore his irritation.

“There’s nothing wrong with living for the fun things in life. Not when you’re young.”

“Now I feel ancient,” Dean mumbled.

“Do I have to smack you upside the head again?”

“No. No.” Dean raised a hand in case Jay did. “You know what I mean. You make it sound like we’re settling down like an old married couple.”

Jay’s lips twitched and curled. “Anything wrong with that?”
