Chapter 14

“Don’t call me that,” I told him.

“Why not?”

“Because I don’t like it.”

He laughed softly. “You didn’t have a problem with it last night.”

Really?I was tempted to ask, but didn’t since last night was kind of a blur. Still, I found it hard to believe that I was okay with him (or anyone) calling me “Daddy.” The thought of me responding positively to someone calling me that during sex made me cringe. I wasn’t that guy…well, not usually anyway.

“I’m just joking, Matthew,” Ryan said, resting his chin on my chest. “When I call you Daddy, it’s a compliment.”

“Is it?

“Yes. A daddy is someone who cares for others and protects them.”

“You must have a great father.”

“I have a great stepfather. My real father…well, I don’t want to ruin the moment talking about him.” Ryan pressed his body to mine. “Let’s change the subject, shall we? Tell me about that guy you had dinner with last night. I thought you said you didn’t have a boyfriend.”
