Chapter 44

“Anyway, the curtain hanging to the right of the only window inside the room is on fire. I know the one on the left, which coves part of the window, is going to be torched within seconds. I process the dilemma immediately and know that almost every kitchen has an extinguisher, somewhere. Quickly, I open a pantry closet to Tigi’s right—she has her ass against the kitchen counter and her elbows are tightly pressed at her sides. Two fingers hold her cigarillo. She literally shakes in her heels, petrified.

“Long story short, there’s no fire extinguish in the pantry. I then decide to see if one is tucked behind the two cupboard doors under the sink and…bingo! The fire extinguisher is there next to the stainless-steel garbage pal. I take it out, use it, and…”

“Everyone’s lives are saved. You’re my hero,” Jason says.

Turning on Sell Way, Dillon chuckles. “I’ll take it. But that’s not what I was going to say.”
