Chapter 16

Marco reached the water, taking three huge steps and then crashing head-first into an oncoming wave. Dean followed close behind, the wave pushing them apart as he swam furiously, trying to catch up. About fifty feet out, they reached a sand bar and stood up in waist deep water.

“At least the water is a little warmer over this sandbar,” Dean observed. He had been halfway out into the water before he had noticed how cold it was.

“Yeah, it felt great hitting that cold water after the heat, didn’t it?”

“If you say so,” answered Dean. He was starting to shiver a little bit. “I’m going to have to swim around to keep warm.” They both swam back toward the shore, and after about ten minutes decided they had had enough. As they walked back across the sand toward the pond, Marco took Dean’s hand.

“I think it’s time to go back to the condo and have a little privacy. There are some things I want to do with you right now that we shouldn’t do here.”
