Chapter 6

Gabe sat up when he saw the pair emerge from the hall, his impassive face creasing in a puzzled frown. Jack jerked his head towards the door even as he kept towing Noah in that direction. Gabe’s eyebrows rose slightly, but he got up from the chair and followed them out into the hall. They went up the stairs, down the upper hall, and to Jack and Gabe’s apartment, all at that near-frantic pace that had Noah out of breath from both fear and exertion by the time they arrived.

Jack shoved Noah almost roughly onto his couch and stood over him. “Okay. Tell me when and how you knew.”

“Jack…Don’t terrify the boy.” Gabe put his hand on the other vampire’s shoulder. His expression was concerned, but his voice was calm and even.

Jack spun to him. “He said he knows. That he’s known since Tuesday! I can’t just wipe that out!”

“Calm down. I’m sure it will be fine.” Gabe looked at Noah. “We won’t harm you, don’t worry.”
