Chapter 65

“How many hot nights in the pool at your house? How many books have you read on that bench outside the bank? How many movies have you seen together? You, my dear Justice, have been dating the man for quite some time, since Leslie’s wedding. You know, Leslie, whose first born is ready for school? Now, I know you tend to miss the years as they’re passing, seemingly stuck on the calendar from twenty-some years ago still hanging from the wall in your mind, but you might as well have been engaged to Archie for the past three, four, or five betrothed to the boy. You’ve been dating him since Leslie’s wedding! Dating, for over half a damned decade, Justice. The only things missing, unless he’s lying to me, are the goodnight kisses and the ones in the morning after you sleep over, those and everything in between, between night and day, between your legs, between the sheets.”

“He’s not lying to you,” I said softly.
