Chapter 26

“Daddy, did you grab my make-up bag by mistake?” Addison found it before Edison could answer and switched it out for a similar one.

“Thanks, Princess Slugger. I’d have been missing my razor, and you and I are different seasons when it comes to eyeshadow.”

Addison rolled her eyes.

“She never tires of my sparkling wit. Call your father and tell him we got here safely.”

“Why can’t you?”

“Because he’d rather hear your voice.”

She rolled her eyes again.

“Do it. I’m gonna check.”

“Fine,” Addison huffed, taking her phone from her pocket right then. “Dad,” she said after time enough for two rings and a salutation. “We’re here. Here.” The second here was said as she tried to hand the phone to Edison.

“And the rest.”

The sound Addison made could only be described as a high-pitched grunt. “I love you, Dad,” she said into the phone, her tone putting the declaration in question. “Happy?” She tried to hand the phone back again.
