He did, except for Kelly—who he told as soon as Ogden ended the call—and Russ, that evening.

When Jake finished describing what Fabian had done to Alan, Russ swore softly but vehemently. “What kind of animal is he?”

“One who either hated Alan, for some reason, or hates gays in general,” Jake replied. “Although we may be jumping the gun by saying it’s only gays.”

“Men in general?” Russ rolled his eyes. “If so he’s got half the population to choose from.”

“True. I was just throwing that out there as another possibility. My instincts say either he’s a religious nut, or he’s gay and was brought up by religious fanatics who made him hate himself and anyone like him.”

“I hope Ogden’s looking for any other murders like Alan’s. Come to think about it, do you have the resources to do that?”
