Chapter 29

“Not me. Hell, the picture you showed us was only the lower part of his face so I might not have recognized him if I had. But…” He took a pull on his beer before continuing. “I’ve got a friend who was telling me about some guy who kept hassling him at a bar he was at a couple of nights ago. I wouldn’t have thought anything about it, except he said the guy had a mole, right here.” He touched the corner of his mouth. “That reminded me of the photo, because there was one in the same spot on that man’s face. So I figured I’d track you down to let you know.”

“Which bar?” Jake asked.

“You know Get Lucky?”

“Know of it. It’s a dive.”

“No shit. Anyway, if it’s your guy, he was there.”

“Thanks for letting me know,” Jake said.

“No problem. I lost the card you gave me or I’d have gotten in touch sooner. I did remember your name, which helped. One of the guys who was there that night recalled seeing you here a while back.”
