Chapter 18

He exhaled a ragged sigh and cast around for any hint as to which way he should go. There seemed to be no sun, just a uniform dull light like late evening or early morning. However long he had been here, it had not changed.

What a gods forsaken dung heap this place is!

The ground felt spongy beneath his feet, mud just thicker than liquid oozing back to fill the hollows left by each step. Finally, he resorted to teleporting to a spot on the distant horizon to hasten his journey. This place might be marginally better than drifting in the null void of between,but only slightly. Although he wanted to rail at fate, he did not quite dare. He recognized things could be worse.
