Justin had run back to the living room to sit with Dad. Mom stared at Vincent and I. Then she smiled, shaking her head. “You two are like night and day, but even night and day have to meet every twelve hours.” She laughed and left us.
Vincent scowled. “Wait—what did that mean exactly?”
I grabbed my bag and opened the door. “I’ll call you.”
“Yeah…Hey, so when do I meet this Lei guy?”
“I don’t know.”
“Will I hate him like I hated all your other boyfriends?”
I rolled my eyes and stepped out without another word. Outside, I threw my bag on the front seat. Climbed in my car. No, Lei wasn’t anything like the men I’d dated before. Vincent would actually like him, I was sure of it.
I slipped my phone out of my jeans, and without hesitation, dialed Lei’s number.
“Hello?” His voice was drawn.
I checked the time. It was eight P.M. Could he have been sleeping? “Did I wake you?”
“What’s wrong?”
