“Any left?”
Lei’s gaze lingered over Justin’s face and then he shook a thought off and smiled. “Yeah…”
While I fixed myself the last pancake, there was an uneasy silence but Vincent broke it quickly. “Well, we’re gonna get out of your hair and anyway, Melissa is waiting for him.”
Minutes later, Vincent and Justin were ready and putting their coats on by the door. I promised Justin we’d see each other very soon and after a few comforting words and a hug, he was willing to leave.
“Hey, I’d love to hear you sing one day,” Vincent said, shaking Lei’s hand. “In person, I mean. Those YouTube videos don’t do you justice, I suppose.”
I tensed, not quite sure of Lei’s reaction. “One of these days,” Lei said, dismissively. He looked down at Justin and gently, almost ceremoniously touched his hair. “It was a pleasure meeting you.” He locked eyes with my brother. “Watch over him,” he said and turned away, heading for my bedroom.
