The organized part of the meeting ended after that, but smaller groups broke off for their own summits. Kyler’s mom had corralled a group of only three. It was three more than I wanted on her side, if her views hadn’t been changed, but I was happy to see it that small.
“I hope they’re teaching her something.” Goose was the glass half full fella this time, assuming the three people with Kyler’s mom were reading her. I hadn’t thought of it that way.
When Carrie headed over toward them, Goose, Shelby, Rip, and I followed.
“I would appreciate the opportunity to have you stay and watch my interaction with the children,” Carrie told Mrs. Whalen. “For more than a few minutes…like when you saw what you saw yesterday.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” she said.
“And Kyler?” Carrie asked.
“I guess he can stay today, but I won’t make any promises.”
Once Mrs. Whalen had walked off, Shelby asked Carrie if she wanted us to stay.
