Wyatt is weary. He's been alive for more than two hundred years, and all that lies before him is at least another two centuries of the same tedium. The tales and legends of vampires are vastly more interesting than the reality.<br><br>After another night of failed attempts at finding someone to connect with, Wyatt heads home, more despondent and alone than ever ... and comes across a young man being attacked. Though blind by conventional standards, Wyatt is nowhere near as helpless as people like to assume, and easily fends off the attackers.<br><br>In the aftermath of the attack, the man he rescued proves unexpectedly to be a light in the darkness Wyatt has endured for centuries.

Darkness Is Illuminating

“I assure you that I’m very much real.” Wyatt smiles faintly. He’s never revealed himself like this to someone who didn’t know the supernatural existed. He can imagine it’s hard to accept. Finding out the world you thought you knew so well is not at all what it seemed.


“Do you have any other questions?” Wyatt asks. He doesn’t want Noel to be too shy to ask anything he’s curious about. He hopes by offering to answer questions, it might give Noel the opportunity to ask anything he’s been puzzling over. He’s clearly curious about vampires, now that he knows they exist.


“Can I see your fangs again? I only got a glimpse before. I think seeing them would make this real. I mean, you can’t fake having them right in front of me. I’d see you putting in fake ones,” Noel says softly.


It surprises him that Noel wants to see his fangs. He didn’t expect that to be Noel’s question.
