Finally, after much droning on the part of the officiant and some very sincere, tear-filled vow-making on the part of the two who mattered most today, the officiant beamed. “With the power vested in me by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”
Lisa pulled Tony in for a kiss, which managed to not be too awkward despite being a public kiss, and there was much rejoicing. The happy couple led the way out, followed by Greg and the loathsome Becky, then Brandon and Candace, Abe and another sister, and Tommy and a cousin who hadn’t managed to get to five feet tall because someone thought the height difference would be funny. Of course, now they had to go back out into the garden for more pictures while everyone else had cocktail hour, but Marketta and Clay kept them supplied with drinks as they submitted to the ordeal of more photography.
“That was fantastic,” Marketta beamed. “They look so happy together!”
