“She wasn’t there, either, though she was a hot topic of conversation, because of who she started dating right after graduation.”
“Before, actually.”
“You knew about that?”
“Yup.”
“Wow. Scandalous.”
“Not as much as us. No guidance counselors pushed her to enlist in the army—or a nunnery.”
“No. And you kept it secret.”
“Guess we kept secrets from each other. I didn’t know about Wayne or any of that until the last minute, so…”
“True.”
He finally silenced him—for several whole minutes. So why did he feel guilty about it? “So, you went to journalism school?” Tucker asked.
“Yeah. How about you? You go to college up here and stay?” Chad moved his camera around so that it hung down his back, under the poncho, instead of the front. His one-word answer said more than his normal run-on sentences did. Apparently, there were topics Chad wish to avoid as well
“Not exactly,” Tucker told him.
