Chapter 75

He’d thought that Catherine was hard to move. Cameron was just a man, and Sonneilion was a creature as old as humanity itself. Sonneilion was huge, a formless black cloud as big as the city, and trying to push him into the circle was a lot like trying to shove a building. Once Cameron set himself and figured out how to incorporate the strength flooding him, though, he managed to budge the demon.

Little by little, Cameron herded Sonneilion into the circle. He felt the blood flowing from his nose, down his chin, and onto the branches. His breath came in short, shallow pants and made his lungs scream in agony, but he ignored it. Everything but Sonneilion could be dealt with later. Cameron’s shirt stuck to his body and his skin was wet with sweat, but Sonneilion kept moving. Finally, after what felt like hours but was probably only minutes, the demon was in the circle.
