Eugenio pretended to slap him on the shoulder. “Behave. We are trying to have a serious conversation.”
“Sorry, though you may be right. I really do feel guilty about the way things were left with my parents. Though I won’t take all the blame. They may not have kicked me out physically, but emotionally they kind of abandoned me. Yet, something makes me wonder if I should have tried to see if things could have been different.”
Eugenio got up from his seat and walked over to the fridge. “How about this? Let’s both have a sandwich, then go up to your room when we’re done. We can talk a bit more, and I’ll stay there with you until you fall asleep. Then I’ll go to back to my room.”
