“Yeah, he told me to just take it easy for a bit, which probably meant a lot more to Beto than it did to me.”
“Another fight?” Eugenio asked with a laugh.
“Eh, yes and no. I mean, I get where he is coming from, but I wish he would see it from my point of view too.”
“You are both too stubborn for that.”
Carlos shot Eugenio a playful look. “You don’t know me enough to know that.”
“Maybe, but I’d really like to change that. Which is why I thought of going out to a nice dinner.”
And it was. Carlos was happy to be in Eugenio’s company. Not too many people understood him, and even though they had just met, Carlos didn’t sense a judgmental bone in Eugenio’s body. He just felt so comfortable around him.
“What’s that sly smile about?” Eugenio asked coyly. Carlos just loved the way that playful smirk looked on him. It was just another thing about this beefy cowboy that turned him on.
“What would you like to know? I’m an open book.”
Eugenio leaned back in his chair. “Anything?”
