“Well, if she is, it wasn’t in that.” Beto’s tone was still flat, but his eyes showed a deep sadness. “I can see why you would be feeling that way, to see those words come at you like that. I didn’t even get a letter, and the amount of guilt I have is horrible.”

“We still need to decide what to do,” the doctor interjected.

“I’m not going anywhere. I can’t be forced to if I don’t want it.” Carlos screamed.

“That’s right,” Virginia agreed.

“Calm down. It will be okay. The doctor is only here to help.” Eugenio said while putting his arms around Carlos. Beto looked them both over. A small scowl appeared on his face, but it quickly vanished. He was relieved that neither Carlos nor Eugenio caught it.

“You could try to sanction him, if you are concerned he is a danger to himself or others.”

“Will you stop talking about me like I’m not in the room!” Carlos said, raising his voice once again.
