After his mom passes away from a terrible accident, Carlos heads home to Tres Reynas for the funeral -- and to reunite with his brother. Given he left after his parents abandoned him for coming out, it's not a homecoming he's looking forward to.<br><br>Once home, he learns a neighbor wants to steal his family's ranch, and his brother is considering selling it. Determined not to let the ranch be lost, Carlos works to save it -- with unexpected help from the handsome, rugged Eugenio.<br><br>But Carlos can't seem to focus, especially with his mother's image seeming to haunt the ranch mirrors, like she's trying to tell him something -- or maybe like he's just losing his mind.

The thought of how different his life would be was a thrilling one, although it was also scary as hell. This was the first time he would be away from the ranch for an extended amount of time, much longer than his weekend trips to San Antonio. Though he thought of traveling outside of Texas, he eventually settled on Austin. One, because Carlos already had an apartment there, and two, because he’d be able to get to Dallas and Houston easily if he wanted to.


So maybe it wasn’t that big of a move, yet it was still something. Carlos had joked with him that he was only doing it so he wouldn’t be too far if Carlos screwed something up. Beto had thought about that, but he knew his brother would do everything he could to keep things going smoothly. Plus, he had Eugenio to help him, so things would definitely be okay.
