I picked up my tea and sat back in my chair, not even trying to hide the satisfied smile. Excellent.2

I was actually nervous.

The date had gone off better than I could have imagined. Joshua had picked me up at seven o’clock sharp—I’d been a bit surprised when he’d insisted on it when we made our plans—and took me to what he said was his favorite restaurant. Tucked into an out-of-the-way corner on the north side of the city, I’d never even heard of it, let alone been there. But the food had been delicious, the atmosphere quiet and intimate, and the conversation had surpassed even my greatest expectations. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d sat and just talked with someone for that long.
