I was at work when my phone chimed and I snatched it up, knowing that particular noise was a text from Joshua. Our conversations had been short over the last week, but he’d made a point to check in daily. I think he was afraid I would get tired of waiting or that I would forget him. Silly man should know better. I’d tried to reassure him, but I wasn’t sure he entirely believed me. I’d have to figure out a way to set that right.

What are you doing tomorrow night?

“Hopefully you,” I said out loud. But I couldn’t say that to him. Not yet. I grinned, and texted back. Going out with you??

He sent a smiley face, followed quickly by another text. I’ll make dinner.

My grin couldn’t be contained. Third date was finally happening.4
