“Thanks,” Luke said dryly. “You couldn’t swap these smaller bills out earlier?”
Jamie grinned. “But this is more fun.”
“Not when I’m running late.” Luke quickly scooped out the bills from Jamie’s garter. “And your ass is on my work space.”
Jamie rolled his head back and grunted in annoyance. “How much longer?”
“I don’t know. Maybe twenty minutes if you don’t interrupt me.”
“Fine.” Jamie got up and stomped back around the desk. He plopped down into the spare office chair and put his feet up on a crate of beer bottles.
Luke tried to ignore him for the moment, and finish the cashing up.
Ignoring Jamie wasn’t all that easy: he had a knack for making his presence felt. After barely thirty seconds of quietly twirling side to side in the chair, Jamie pulled out a lollipop from God only knew where, and rustled with the wrapper to open it.
Luke kept working.
Then Jamie stuck the lollipop in his mouth and started sucking on it noisily.
Slurp, slurp.
