Shay Rogers has avoided going back home to Alabama because he fears running into his high school lover, Dwayne Sayles. Because of Shay’s reputation as an All-American straight stud, he tried to keep his love for Dwayne secret. Shay’s fear of his friends and family finding out about him ultimately led to his breaking up with Dwayne. However, when the invitation to his fifteen year high school reunion arrives, Shay’s friend convinces him to go, with her as his fictitious girlfriend. Within moments of meeting again, the long-dormant feelings between Shay and Dwayne are rekindled, but so are Shay’s fears. “You’ll have to hurry. Like I said, it’s boarding right now.”


“Shay! Shay!” Melissa said. “Pay the lady!”


“But this is crazy. What about my clothes? What about Jasper? What’ll my parents think?”


“Do you want this or not? If you do, then buy the damn ticket and get on the plane. I’ll take care of Jasper and your stuff. I’ll talk to your family.”


Shay purchased the ticket. He and Melissa raced to TSA. There he turned to her. “Thank you. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without you.” He pulled her into a hug.


“My pleasure. What’s a fake girlfriend for?”


“If things go the way I think they will, make me your best person at your wedding.”


Shay laughed. “You got yourself a deal.”


As Shay jogged along the concourse, he heard the announcement over the airport public address, “Final boarding call for American Airlines flight 768 non-stop service to Boulder, Colorado at Gate A-42.” He picked up his pace.
