Chapter 67

“We could be too late.”

He shook his head. “We won’t know unless we check it out. What is it: yes or no?”

“Yeah.”

“All right.” He sprinted outside to quickly disconnect their home from the water line and power hookups. Moments later, he returned and slid into the driver’s seat. Their camper wasn’t the swiftest vehicle on earth, but if they took the main highways and avoided stopping, they might make it in less than four hours. He hoped that would be fast enough.

They parked at the entrance to a cul-de-sac. Though it would take longer to walk down the hill, this meant the duo could use their powerful metal-obliterating talisman at the house if they needed it, without fear of turning their own home into a puddle.
