Well, at least if Avery were here, Michael could keep an eye on him and make sure he was taking care of himself. And he hadsounded better the last time they talked. He blew out a breath and rubbed his eyes with a thumb and finger.


“There’s nothing I can do to stop this, is there?”


“No.” And Jeanine sounded truly sorry. “But we will make this as painless for you and your operatives as possible. And this is a good thing.”
