Chapter 22

Tim’s place wasn’t that far from mine, though the building was a bit more rundown than the one that I lived in. I felt a bit shallow for noticing that, so I pushed that particular thought to the back of my mind. Tim asked me to stay in the car, then got out and walked around to the other side in order to open my door. My heart completely melted by this point, and I was willing to do anything that he wanted.

Before he opened the door, Tim put his finger over his lips, signaling me to be quiet. I figured his roommate was home and possibly asleep, so I walked in as quietly as I could to Tim’s room.

As we reached Tim’s door, there was a giant sign with the words RENT! sprawled across it. I figured that his roommate must be some piece of work to set reminders like that, though I should have taken the sign a little bit more to heart at the time.
