Mayfield didn’t seem concerned by Leander’s weak attempt to assert himself. “You mentioned wanting to see more of London. Have you had that opportunity?”


Leander wasn’t about to admit that he was still somewhat intimidated by the city and didn’t know where to begin. “Not yet. That’s something else I mean to do.” As he spoke, he realized he was saying that far too often and privately vowed to begin doingall those things he meant to.


“If you wish to appear in Society but dislike balls, you might consider attending the theater.”
