Chapter 11

“I think it may be easing. I do not feel quite as…desperate.”

“For now anyway.” I eased my fingers from him, and he whimpered only a little at the loss. With a grin, I kissed his nose, which made his muzzle wrinkle in the most adorable way. “Let’s see if we can get some sleep before the next wave hits, shall we?”

Sol didn’t say a word, he just snuggled in around me, enveloping my body with mine and contorting himself until he could lay his head on my chest. His tail wrapped over my hip. I had started to think it had a mind of its own, even though I knew that wasn’t the case. In reality, it was as a part of him as everything else, and Sol seemed to be most content when it was touching me as well.

I gave the brown tuft at the end a little pet, then wrapped my arms around him as tightly as I could. A moment later, we were both asleep.
