“You like the ideaof me. You like that there’s another guy out there that laughs over the same shit you do. That knows what you’re thinking and can play off of it in a way that makes you both look funny and smart. You like that we have the same taste in movies and music and cars. There’s a whole fuck ton of stuff you like aboutme. That’s why we get along so well. That’s why we make such good friends. But trust me, buddy. You don’t like me.”

Greg crossed his arms over his chest and twisted his lips into an expression only Greg could have managed; a mix of sarcasm and amusement, annoyance and disbelief. “I’ve seen the hard-assed, blond-god, beach-babe bastards that you look at like a dog watching an unattended pie. And I ain’t it.”

When Mason didn’t reply, Greg dropped his arms to prop a hand on each hip. “I knew something was wrong when I called you last week.”

“Why? Because I was too busy to chat for once?”
