Todd liked the fresh breeze and how the air smelled clean. The sound of thunder and quick flashes of lightning made his pulse jump, but not from fear as it did Nick. He’d resigned himself to the fact Nick might never enjoy the storms the way he did, but maybe the man would not be afraid. After a year and a half living with Todd, Nick’s reaction to storms had scaled back to almost nonexistent. Now it seemed he was back to square one.
Another boom rolled through the atmosphere, making the air around them crack and smell sharp. Todd lifted his arm from around Nick’s waist and caressed his hair, pressing him close and talking low and soft into his ear.
