Chapter 38

“Yes.” Mickey made a face, a rather uncomfortable one. The Bachelor likely wasn’t on Violet’s weekly viewing list. “That’s what they’re doing.”

“Oh…”

“In the story, the princes kiss.”

“Yes. Because in stories…and real life…sometimes men fall in love with women, and sometimes men fall in love with men. No matter how it happens, people in love…um…kiss.”

“Prince Mackensie and Prince Julian should kiss.”

“Did you notice Santa behind us?”

“He wants Prince Mackensie and Prince Julian to kiss, too.”

Mickey’s distraction failed miserably. I couldn’t hold back a chuckle.

“Not now,” Mickey said.

“Why not?”

I doubted anyone around us could hear the conversation. I could barely hear it, even with a break in the music, and I was right next to them.

“Kiss,” Violet said again.
