Time and place.

He could have asked for proof his parents were okay. He thought of that after he hit send. But the sooner Eli did this, the sooner they’d be safe again, and that was all he could focus on right now.

He’d been right about Sandora’s readiness. The response came back within a minute.

One hour. Corner of Wabash and Washington.

“That’s it?” Jarrett said. “No specifics on what’s going on with your parents, how he wants to handle the exchange, anything?”

“That’s it.” It did leave a lot of questions unanswered, and too many things to go wrong. What proof did he have Sandora would actually let his parents go?

“We couldn’t get there in an hour anyway. Tell him you need to make later arrangements.”

“The longer he has them, the more likely he is to hurt them.” He opened a reply window. “We’ll just have to break a few speed limits to get there on time.”
