This is not my problem, he argued in silence with himself. Parker is not my problem. He’s an asshole and a fraud, and he deserves to feel like shit over what he’s done.

John shook his head and took a breath. The truth of the matter was that Parker deserved to feel like hell for a whole lot more issues than just William. John straightened his spine and firmed his resolve. “Why are you here? What do you want? If you think I’m going to help you get William back than you’re wrong. If you think I’m even capable of helping you get Will—”

Parker’s voice was so quiet, John barely heard it. “William’s not the one that I want back.”

John frowned. “You’re not getting Miss T. Over my dead body will that cat leave this—”

Parker didn’t reply. He just shook his head.
