Chapter 28

“How’ve you been, Ricky?” James asks, grinning.

Something happens to Ricky, Jonah notes. The quarterback swallows saliva down the back of his throat. He blinks a number of times. A smile forms on his face. “Too long,” he whispers. His eyes shine, captivated. He glows, obviously still in love with the fireman.

“Fifteen months to be exact. It has been too long.” James removes his fireman’s hat and places it at his feet on the floor. The guy is more handsome than Jonah conceived. He’s pretty and handsome mixed, like a movie star. Hollywood can scoop him up like Brad Pitt or Chris Hemsworth and make a fortune. James’s skin and lips are flawless. His eyes are pools of an exciting blue. Nothing about the man’s features is an eyesore. He’s a god, even more handsome than the quarterback, if this is even possible. “You should have reached out to me since you’re in town.”

“Didn’t know that you wanted me to, James.”
