“You’ve been bringing up something promising every day.” Dinah studied me intently.
I grinned at her and gave a slight bow. “I hope it’s what I think it might be.”
“Ah?” Carlos looked up from a final cup of coffee. “The little jade figure you found the other day was exquisite. A pity it’s the wrong period.”
I didn’t want to tell him my big green lover had actually found it at some point while he and what was left of his crew had been trying to survive in the Amazon jungle. He’d given it to me so no one would suspect I’d been whiling away the time with him instead of scouring the nooks and crannies of the lagoon bottom. I should get more done with him away seeing to whatever it was that took him from the lagoon.
“I’m coming with you,” Dinah announced. “I haven’t spotted a single one of those sharks since we got here, and I want to see if anything in particular drove them away or if it might be our presence.” She turned to Leo. “Are you joining us?”
